F.A.Q's

If you have any questions that are not addressed below, please feel free to drop us an email, and we will endeavor to assist you.

Why is Door Supervision training better than Static Guard training?

Unfortunately the current system of licensing by the SIA means that Security Guards are not allowed to work within Licensed Premises. "Door Supervisors can work in Night Clubs, Pubs, Bars, and also in Retail Stores. Security Guards can only work in Retail Stores and Offices not Night Clubs, Pubs & Bars"

How often do you run training courses?

We try to deliver training courses every week for individuals at our dedicated training centre in Glasgow city centre or at your premises.

What happens after I have completed a Security training course?

Upon successful completion of your training course and passing both examinations, you can then apply for a license from the Security Industry Authority (SIA). You can obtain a SIA License Application form (Front Line Operative) by calling the SIA on 0870 243 0100 or alternatively request it here.

When you receive your license you can work as a Door Supervisor or Security Guard anywhere in Scotland, England,Wales and Northern Ireland.

Can you help me find work after completing my security training?

Yes. We can refer successful delegates to a network of security companies who employ security staff in Glasgow, Edinburgh and Ayr and the surrounding areas.

What happens if I fail my exams?

We have one of the highest pass rates for security courses in Scotland. However, if you do fail an exam we can provide you with a breakdown of your results which will give you an idea about your performance in each of the subject areas. Following this we will offer you a one to one revision training session before retaking your exam.

English is not my first language

We have many years experience delivering training to delegates with English as an additional language and our training methods reflect this. Delegates with English as an additional language may bring translator dictionaries to the course and are allowed to use them in the exams. Delegates in this category are also permitted extra time to complete their examinations.

I have special assessment requirements. Can you assist me?

Delegates with special needs (e.g. dyslexia) and relevant proof may have their examination paper read to them. The reader is not permitted to explain or translate questions. If you would like to arrange for a reader please ensure that you provide us with relevant proof before attending your course.

Will I need to complete any pre course work?

No pre course work needs to be completed for the purposes of the training courses.

What is the dress code on your courses?

Smart casual dress is appropriate for most of our courses although more comfortable and unrestrictive clothing is appropriate for Physical Interventions training.

Will I receive any support material to take away form my course?

We provide delegates with a handbook that has been researched and designed by us to provide the core subject knowledge and better prepare delegates for their examinations.

What background and training do your trainers have?

Steven Morrison is the Senior SIA Trainer and is also a specialist in Learning and Development with well over 22 years active service as a Head Door Supervisor. We think you will agree that he has a strong background and a lot of experience in managing conflict and is also an excellent and highly effective trainer/tutor/ facilitator. We also use other trainers on other courses that come from a range of sectors including security, police, military. We use a continual professional development programme that provides regular comprehensive internal training.

Why do you recommend a maximum of 12 delegates on each course?

We have found that this group size allows delegates to gain the maximum benefit from their course as there opportunity to afford each delegate individual attention yet have a good size group to facilitate debate and progress.

Are your training programmes accredited?

Yes, mostly all of our courses are accredited through the following nationally recognised awarding bodies:

• City & Guilds
• The British Institute of Inn keeping Awarding Body (BIIAB)
• Skills For Security
• Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH)

We also run inhouse couses that are specialised to the Security Sector, such as the
RedWebTM Offender ID Spay and the Arrest & Plastic Restraint.

What sort of certificate do I recieve to show I have attended the course?

All delegates attending our nationally accredited courses receive certificates from the respective awarding body.
