BIIAB National Certificate for CCTV Operators (Public Space Surveillance) Operators

Duration: 30 Hours

Summary

Anyone wishing to be employed as a CCTV (Public Space Surveillance) operative has to be in possession of a licence issued to them by the Security Industry Authority (SIA).

Details

One of the eligibility criteria for licence applicants is that they must hold a relevant and accredited qualification. The new BIIAB NCCCTV(PSS) meets this criterion.

The Ofqual accredited qualification comprises of two units:

Unit 1 – Roles and Responsibilities of a CCTV Operator
Unit 2 – CCTV Surveillance Techniques

The Guided Learning Hours for the qualification is 30 hrs, and there is one 60 multiple choice question examination, for which 90 minutes are allowed. There is also an internal assessment for Unit 2.

This course will be available in November 2009.
